What happened
Heavy rain moved across the Las Vegas valley Friday afternoon and flooded dozens of streets, KTNV reported. The station said the rain flooded communities across the valley for more than an hour, and another round of storms followed over the Halloween weekend.
Drivers slowed down as water collected on roads, according to KTNV, and some turned around so they would not get stuck. Clark County is urging residents to stay safe because more storms are expected. Earlier coverage of this wet stretch is collected in our report on the storm, flash flood warning and outages.
Arts District businesses take a hit
KTNV identified the Arts District as one of the hardest-hit parts of the valley. Multiple businesses there had to close Friday because of the flooding, the station reported.
Fewer customers at a convenience store
Alisha Kaur, who works at the 7-Eleven in the Arts District, told KTNV that the flooded roads cut into traffic at the store. "People are just driving straight by, they're not even stopping," Kaur said.
Water inside a clothing boutique
Plur City, a boutique clothing store down the street, also had to turn customers away. Owner Karina Caracho recorded video showing inches of water across the entire floor of her shop, KTNV reported.
Caracho told the station she used a couple of sandbags to block the door and then piled clothing from her discount rack against it. After the rain stopped, she said, customers began returning while "our whole store was in disarray."
Flooding beyond downtown
The flooding was not limited to the Arts District. KTNV reported that the city of Henderson posted a photo showing debris covering Lake Mead Parkway.

County safety warning for Halloween
Heaviest rain expected late Saturday into Sunday
Clark County sent a message asking people to be careful on Halloween night. The county said storms were expected over the weekend, with the heaviest rain arriving late Saturday and continuing into Sunday.
The county also noted that children in costume would be walking along streets on Saturday, which could make it harder for both children and drivers to see. "Please exercise extreme caution driving in the rain and in the evening hours," the county said.
Families adjust their plans
The warning led some families to rethink their Halloween plans, KTNV reported. Keanu Bedonie told the station he might take his niece to a trunk-or-treat event instead, pointing to police and security patrols at those events. He said "it's probably safer to go there instead."
Other families told KTNV they hoped to finish trick-or-treating before the rain arrived. If that did not work out, they said, they had umbrellas and jackets ready.
