About News In Las Vegas

News In Las Vegas is a local news site for people who live in the Las Vegas valley rather than visit it. We focus on the civic decisions that shape daily life here: water, growth, schools, elections and how public safety is handled.

Why this site exists

National coverage of Las Vegas is mostly about the Strip. Local newsrooms do serious work on the rest of the valley, but a resident with ten minutes often wants the short version: what changed, how big is it, and does it affect my street. We write that short version and link to the full reporting.

What we value

Credit the reporting

Every brief names the outlet whose work it draws on and links to it near the top. We want readers to support the newsrooms doing original reporting.

Practical over sensational

A water allocation or a school audit affects more households than most of what leads a bulletin, so that is what we lead with.

Neighborhood specific

Henderson is not North Las Vegas, and neither is the east side. We tag every story by area. See news by neighborhood.

Correct openly

When we make a mistake we fix it on the page and note the change. Our standards page explains the process.

How we work

Our briefs are drafted with AI assistance from published reporting and checked against those sources before publication. Our standards page explains exactly how.
