Privacy policy

Effective date: October 2, 2026.

Information we collect

When you send a tip we collect what you enter in the form: your name, phone number, the location you describe and the details of your tip. We also record which page you sent it from. Like most websites, our hosting and content delivery providers log technical data such as IP address and browser type to keep the site running and secure.

How we use it

We use tip information to read, verify and follow up on your tip, which may include a phone call or text message if you consented to that in the form. We do not use it for advertising.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to the newsletter we store your email address, your delivery choice, the page you signed up from, the dates you subscribed and confirmed, and a one-way hash of your connection address used only to stop automated signups. Subscriptions are double opt-in: nothing is sent until you click the confirmation link. Every newsletter email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all newsletter email right away. Newsletter email is delivered by our email service provider, which processes your address only to deliver our messages.

How it is shared

We do not sell your information. It is processed by the service providers that run our website and form delivery, only for that purpose. We never publish your name or contact details without your permission, and we may disclose information only where the law requires it.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection and tip data is sent directly to our form-processing service. No method of transmission is perfectly secure, so please do not send information you would not want stored.

Text messages

If you choose the optional text-message box on the tip form, we may text you about your tip. Message frequency varies, usually 1 to 3 messages per tip, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information you sent us, and you can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP. Send requests through the tip form and say it is a privacy request.

Cookies and advertising

This site may show ads served by Google and other advertising partners. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info. To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

We use Google Analytics to understand how readers use the site, such as which pages are read and how visitors arrive. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location and device type; it does not give us your name or contact details. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Opt out of Google Analytics: Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. We also use Cloudflare to deliver and protect the site, which may set strictly necessary security cookies.

Our Vegas Creators page shows videos and podcast episodes using the official YouTube and Apple Podcasts players. A YouTube video only loads, in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, after you press play. Once a player loads, YouTube (Google) or Apple may collect information and set cookies under their own privacy policies.

Your privacy choices

Residents of California and other states with privacy laws can learn about their rights and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising on our Your Privacy Choices page.
