Editorial standards and corrections
These are the rules we follow for everything published on News In Las Vegas.
Sourcing and attribution
Our briefs are written from published reporting by other newsrooms and from public records. Each brief names its source and links to it in a box near the top of the page. Quotes are attributed to the report they come from. We do not copy articles, and we keep quotations short.
How briefs are made
Briefs on this site are written with AI assistance. Software selects stories that several valley newsrooms are covering, and an AI model drafts a short summary using only the facts in those published reports. Before anything is published, every number and quotation is checked automatically against the original text, and a second AI review checks each claim against the sources. Drafts that fail are held back and never published. Each brief is labeled with this note and links to the reporting it is based on.
Every brief on the site is produced this way and carries this label. Audio versions of briefs are read by an AI voice and say so on the page. If you find an error, tell us through the contact page and we will correct it publicly.
What we will not do
- Invent quotes, figures, sources or bylines.
- Publish a reader tip without checking it independently.
- Present opinion as news. Analysis is labeled as explanation of what a decision means.
Corrections
If a brief contains an error, we correct the text and add a dated note at the end of the story describing what changed. To report an error, use the tip form and include the page address.
Tips from readers
We welcome tips and documents. A person reads each one. Your contact details are used only to follow up on your tip and are handled as described in our privacy policy.
