What happened

Suffolk Construction Co., a Boston construction company, has hired Jeff Wood as executive vice president of Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. The company said Wood will lead its Southern Nevada business.

Suffolk also promoted Chris Anderson to chief operating officer of national gaming and Las Vegas, according to the Review-Journal. In that role, the company said, Anderson will oversee its national gaming portfolio along with its Las Vegas operations.

Both executives will report to Pete Tuffo, who serves as president of Suffolk's Gulf Coast region, Las Vegas and national gaming operations. The Review-Journal said the company announced the changes recently.

Who is running the Las Vegas office

Jeff Wood

Wood joined Suffolk from McCarthy Building Cos., which the Review-Journal described as a rival contracting giant. The newspaper called him a longtime Las Vegas construction manager with experience building casino-resorts and other large projects.

A company news release listed his past projects as Allegiant Stadium, Circa, Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas, and a renovation and expansion of the Palms. The Review-Journal reported that his LinkedIn profile also shows work as a senior project manager for the Cosmopolitan and as a project manager on components of the multi-tower CityCenter development.

According to the same profile, Wood was also part of a team that managed some big projects for Station Casinos, the Review-Journal reported.

Chris Anderson

Anderson has more than 40 years of construction management experience, the company said. He joined Suffolk in 2025 as general manager of its Las Vegas office before this promotion.

His new title gives him responsibility beyond the valley. Suffolk said he will oversee the company's gaming work nationwide as well as its Las Vegas operations.

Suffolk's work in Southern Nevada

Suffolk has been working on projects in Southern Nevada since 2023, the Review-Journal reported. The newspaper listed three current jobs in the region that span luxury housing, gaming and social services.

Current local projects

  • Four Seasons Private Residences Las Vegas, a two-tower luxury condo complex being built in the Henderson mountains
  • The Durango casino expansion
  • Campus for Hope, a homeless-services complex

Company size

Suffolk reports more than $10 billion in annual revenue and 3,500 employees, according to the Review-Journal. The company has offices across the country.

Why it matters locally

The leadership changes place two executives with local construction backgrounds in charge of a contractor that is building in Henderson and elsewhere in Southern Nevada. Wood's listed experience centers on casino-resorts and major venues, while Anderson has run the company's Las Vegas office since 2025.

The Review-Journal's report did not say whether the hiring will change timelines or staffing on any of Suffolk's current local projects.
