What happened
Clark County is accepting applications from residents who want to serve on the Las Vegas Stadium Authority Board of Directors, the Las Vegas Sun reported. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Nov. 16.
County commissioners will review the applications received by that deadline. According to the Sun, they are expected to make the appointment to the nine-member board at their Dec. 1 meeting.
What the Stadium Authority does
The authority oversees ownership and operations of Allegiant Stadium, where the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders play. It also oversees the new Major League Baseball stadium being built for the Athletics, which is scheduled to open in 2028.
Board responsibilities
The Sun reported that board members manage the stadiums and the land tied to them. They also distribute revenue through what is called a coverage waterfall system and oversee capital improvement funds.

Who can apply
Residency requirement
Applicants must live within 25 miles of the Clark County Government Center at 500 S. Grand Central Parkway in Las Vegas. The county does not require any specific professional background, according to the Sun. Officials do encourage candidates to look over the residency and experience recommendations before they apply.
Term and pay
The seat carries a three-year term that runs from Jan. 1, 2027, to Jan. 1, 2030. Stadium Authority board positions are unpaid, the Sun reported. The county has posted more information about the board along with an application form.
Where the stadium projects stand
Whoever is appointed will join the board during a busy stretch for both venues. Readers following other large projects around the valley can find more in our development coverage.
The Athletics ballpark
The MLB ballpark at the former Tropicana site has moved ahead of schedule, according to the Sun. Stadium Authority records show that as of August 2026, crews had raised two of the stadium's six roof trusses, and more than 750 craft workers were on site each day. The goal is still to finish before the April 2028 baseball season begins.
Allegiant Stadium upgrades
Allegiant Stadium opened in July 2020. It recently won approval for a $75 million public investment to improve fan access on its north side, the Sun reported. That money is part of a larger $158 million accessibility plan.
Work is set to start after the 2026 NFL season. It is expected to be done before the stadium hosts Super Bowl LXIII in February 2029.
