What happened
Municipal Gym, the fitness club tied to actor Mark Wahlberg, is scheduled to open at Downtown Summerlin in early 2027, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported, citing an announcement made this week. The club will sit off Sahara Avenue at the 215 Beltway inside the 106-acre shopping and dining center.
To build interest, management held a free outdoor workout session led by instructors on Tuesday evening at Downtown Summerlin. The Review-Journal reported that the event drew a big crowd and that attendees could sign up for a waitlist to be notified when the club's Founding Memberships become available.
Where the gym is going
A former big-box store space
The gym is moving into the space that Bed Bath & Beyond previously occupied, next to Boot Barn, according to the Review-Journal. Downtown Summerlin's landlord, Howard Hughes Holdings, announced the lease and said this would be Municipal Gym's first location.
The project has been in the works for some time. In fall 2024, Wahlberg posted a video of himself outside the future gym site to announce the facility, the newspaper reported. For more on projects reshaping the valley, see our development coverage.
Permits and buildout
Last year, the Clark County Building Department issued a permit valued at more than $2.4 million for tenant improvements for the gym, the Review-Journal previously reported. The county also issued a separate permit valued at $600,000 for exterior work on the building.
What members can expect
Pricing and the Nov. 2 sale
A one-day sale, held online only, is set for Nov. 2, according to a company news release cited by the Review-Journal. Memberships sold that day will be offered at $99 per month.
Regular rates listed on the gym's website are $129 per month, or $179 per month for access to more services, the newspaper reported. Those rates apply to a full year of dues.
Size and amenities
The club will cover more than 30,000 square feet, according to the Review-Journal. Plans include areas for weightlifting and cardio machines, along with red-light therapy, cryotherapy, hydrotherapy massage, a dry cold plunge, an infrared sauna, a eucalyptus steam room and a cafe.
The gym will also include what it calls a "4:AM Club," a full-body circuit training space. The news release said the space was inspired by its founder's "iconic early-morning workouts and the mindset behind them."
Wahlberg's ties to Las Vegas
Wahlberg, whose films include "Boogie Nights," "The Departed" and "The Fighter," moved to Las Vegas in recent years, the Review-Journal reported. He has become a vocal advocate for turning the city into a hub for movie productions.
The newspaper reported that the gym is one of several ventures he has pursued in Southern Nevada. Residents following changes in their part of town can find more local stories in our neighborhoods section.
